Mumm Napa®’s Fine Art Photography Gallery to Host Exhibition of Autobiographical Photographs

Taken by Legendary Singer-Songwriter Graham Nash
My Life Through My Lens, Photographs by Graham Nash Runs Through January 31, 2015

Over 50 photographs by legendary singer-songwriter Graham Nash will be on display in a new exhibition at the Fine Art Photography Gallery at Mumm Napa in Rutherford. Titled My Life Through My Lens, Photographs by Graham Nash, the exhibit runs now through January 31, 2015 at the winery’s Fine Art Photography Gallery next to the permanent exhibition of original Ansel Adams prints in the Private Collection Gallery.

In addition to his prodigious talent for music, Graham Nash is also an internationally renowned photographer, collector, and digital imaging pioneer. My Life through My Lens was curated specifically for the Fine Art Photography Gallery at Mumm Napa by Theron Kabrich of the San Francisco Art Exchange (SFAE). This collection of over 50 images beautifully illustrates that Nash’s celebrated talent as a compelling storyteller seamlessly carries over into his photography. With autobiographical intimacy, and as only Graham Nash could have photographed them, the exhibition includes artfully crafted pictures of friends such as David Crosby, Jerry Garcia, and Johnny Cash who have been part of his long and influential career.

Inspired by his father, Nash began taking pictures at the age of 11. Prompted by his friend Joni Mitchell, with whom he once lived and who was the inspiration for his song Our House, Nash began to exhibit his photographs in 1990. Since then his work has appeared in solo and group exhibitions in museums and galleries around the world, including at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Eastman House, and the Butler Museum of American Art. His company Nash Editions’ original IRIS 3047 digital printer and one of its first published works—Nash’s 1969 portrait of David Crosby— is now housed in the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian Institution in recognition of his revolutionary accomplishments in the fine arts and digital printing world.

A VIP opening night artist reception with Graham Nash will be held Thursday, September 18, 2014, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Tickets are $55 and include sparkling wine, light hors d’oeuvres, and an autographed paperback copy of Graham Nash’s book Wild Tales.  Please call 707.967.7775 to purchase tickets.
