Morrison Hotel Gallery Proudly Present A Rare Gathering Of Cultural Icons Behind The Lens - An Evening with Bernstein, Diltz and Nash

After the sold-out success of the exclusive one-night event in NYC, in October of 2015, Morrison Hotel Gallery is adding a very special component to this spring’s Behind The Lens tour – An Evening with Bernstein, Diltz and Nash.

For two nights, on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 29th and 30th, three defining visionaries of American culture - photographers Henry Diltz and Joel Bernstein, and musician and photographer Graham Nash - will come together in person for a large-screen presentation and multi-decade retrospective. These two incredible events will be held at Largo at the Cornet on 366 N La Cienega in Los Angeles. Doors open at 6:30 PM and the show begins at 7:30 PM. Tickets can be purchased here. Joel Bernstein, Henry Diltz and Graham Nash will be offering special, hand-signed prints after each show.

There are many ties between these three esteemed artistic souls. Diltz and Bernstein photographed Crosby, Stills and Nash, the folk rock supergroup for decades, Nash has become a highly respected photographer whose work has been anthologized and shown in galleries and museums worldwide, and the three are great friends with stories and memories that span lifetimes. An Evening with Bernstein, Diltz and Nash might be the most intimate perspective of Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame inductees CSNY, and artists from the Laurel Canyon community, such as Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne and Mama Cass among others. The timeless music from these artists has comforted and galvanized generations and become the soundtrack to many meaningful moments both historically and for legions of individuals. Diltz and Bernstein’s work offer an experiential “being there” perspective like no other, and Nash’s photography offers fans a chance to glimpse the world inside the mind of a revolutionary artist. This special event has been produced and curated by Morrison Hotel Gallery owner and partner Peter Blachley.

Legendary singer-songwriter Graham Nash is a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee-with Crosby, Stills, and Nash and with the Hollies. He was also inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame twice, as a solo artist and with CSN, and he is a Grammy Award winner. He will be releasing his next solo record, This Path Tonight (Blue Castle Records) on April 15th, 2016. Nash is a lifelong award-winning photographer who also pursued a parallel career as a photographer, collector, and digital imaging pioneer. His work is collected in the book Eye to Eye: Photographs by Graham Nash; he curated others’ work in the volume Taking Aim: Unforgettable Rock ‘n’ Roll Photographs Selected by Graham Nash (2009). Nash’s work has been shown in galleries and museums internationally. His company Nash Editions’ original IRIS 3047 digital printer and one of its first published works—Nash’s 1969 portrait of David Crosby— is now housed in the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian Institution in recognition of his revolutionary accomplishments in the fine arts and digital printing world. In addition to these accomplishments, he’s a New York Times-bestselling author, and a very active peace, environmental and social justice advocate.

Photographer Henry Diltz is a founding member of the Modern Folk Quartet, a founding partner of Morrison Hotel Gallery, and the 2015 Lucie Award winner for music photography.  In addition to these notes of distinction, his recent national stage tour, Behind the Lens: Up Close and Personal with Pattie Boyd and Henry Diltz, sold out at venues around the country this past September. For over 40 years, his work has graced hundreds of album covers and has been featured in books, magazines and newspapers. His unique artistic style has produced powerful photographic essays of Woodstock, where he was the official photographer, The Monterey Pop Festival, The Doors, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Jimi Hendrix and scores of other legendary artists. To this day, he continues as an in-demand photographer exclusively published and represented by MHG.

Joel Bernstein is an acclaimed photographer whose work, spanning more than three decades, chronicles the inner lives and public moments of some of the most important singer-songwriters, performers and musicians of our time. They include Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, Prince, Jackson Browne, Laura Nyro, Tom Petty and many others. Bernstein’s numerous album covers are commonly listed among the most influential in rock's visual history. His first, at age 18, was Neil Young's After the Gold Rush, often cited in Best Album Covers Of All Time lists. His work was also featured in the album cover for Joni Mitchell's Hejira, nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Album Cover. In addition, Bernstein’s work was the inspiration for the look of Cameron Crowe's well-received rock film Almost Famous, in which many scenes were precise re-creations of Bernstein's photographs.
